Blog Post #1 - Frugal Meals for a Small Budget

What is 20% Time?
20% time is setting aside 20% of class time, or one day out of the week, to work on and explore one topic of our choosing. According to Sir Ken Robinson, who has a PhD and is an internationally recognized leader in the development of creativity and innovation, says that student must begin to grow accustom to being "autonomous learners" and thinking outside of the box due to how "collaborative [and] communicative place" this world has developed into.

What I Have Chosen - Frugal Meals for a Small Budget
For my 20% time project, I decided on creating a blog that gives different tips and advice on how to maintain a healthy lifestyle and emphasize on giving cost efficient ways of eating healthy. I chose this project because within only a matter of months I, myself, along with many other seniors are all on our way to college, where taking care of ourselves and making executive decisions over what goes into our bodies are all up to us. That is why the renowned "Freshman 15" has developed due to college students resorting to cheap yet incredibly unhealthy eating habits due to the mindset of staying on a budget. Henceforth, if I can educate and enlighten peers and college students in general with my blog, then in the long run college students will be able to function at a much better rate and are more inclined to being aware mentally and physically due to clean eating and a good amount of exercise.

"How Will You Enhance Your World?"
Each week I will be posting a series of tips and advice on eating healthy while still staying on a budget and measure my progress by first seeing how many of my peers will actually take such eating habits into account through a series of surveys that will be handed out after every two weeks. Hopefully if this project becomes successful, not only will college students take these tips and advice into account, but individuals of all ages as well.

Goals
Goal #1: For this project, my goal is for my peers who come across my blog to actually incorporate the advice I will post on my blog into their daily routines and carry them on into college.

Goal #2: I also hope to expand the demographic of my blog to not only college students but individuals striving to transition into a healthier life of clean eating and exercising.

  1. This will come in handy for many people do go off to college. I am interested in not gaining the freshman 15. I think that you should not only focus on college students but broaden it as you said in Goal 2. You should your tips more than just on here but also maybe create a link with them on, and post them on social media. Will you be focusing on snacks or meal plans?

  2. I love the idea of eating healthy and keeping a well rounded budget on it too! This gives classmates the necessary ideals for healthy eating. Through your journey you can also tell us the different stores or markets you have visited to buy this food. Maybe you can incorporate a budget friendly meal plan? Overall great idea and I wish the best of luck to you!

  3. My brother just went off to college last year and I know he craves a good home cooked meal when he comes home because he does not get them in college, so I love your idea and can definitely connect with it. I think that as a senior researching a project like this right before college is very cool! I would suggest another way to access your healthy lifestyle tips, for example a website. Will your tips be focused on the meals themselves or a way to make them on a budget?
Thank you for sharing your idea and I wish you the best of luck with your project!
